Congress recycles more waste than anybody!
In the beginning of our country, there was no monetary incentive to hold office in Congress because they were not paid for serving. But now, members of Congress are swamped with special interests waving oodles of cash in exchange for infuence because it takes a lot of cash to get elected, so there is a reason to accept the cash. Since we have laws against outright bribery, our lawmakers have become smarter than just raising funds for reelection and the perks that go along with holding an office. They passed a law that forces them to transfer all their unused campaign funds into a charity when they no longer are seeking reelection. So, they simply set up their own non-profit organization which under their control and transfer all their unused campaign funds tax-free into a non-profit organization controlled by them where the funds will never be taxed, unless they draw it out as wages. |
