| We know that every stock index has gone up over time, some more than others and they all have had downturns in the process. We also know that over time some individual stocks have performed better than others and even the best ones have had their share of downturns. And even though the very best performing mutual funds have had downturns, but the very best performing mutual funds have a s a matter of fact outperformed every stock index. The odds of finding a specific stock or even a basket of stocks that will outperform the best performing mutual fund over time is not in favor of the individual investor because very few investors have the time and recources available to the professional managers of a top-performing mutual fund, which is why we recommend that individual investors choose either a stellar performing mutual fund or a few extremely consistent-performing mutual funds and put every dollar possible to work as soon as possible, preferably in a tax-sheltered retirement fund. |
